M.S. Agricultural Systems Management

The Master of Science degree requires you to complete advanced course work and to become skilled in research methodology. You’ll be expected to plan, conduct and analyze a comprehensive research project, and to report the findings in a thesis, a scholarly document of research conducted in accordance with accepted scientific methodology.

The Master of Science (non-thesis option) in Agricultural Systems Management is also offered via distance education.

Program Details

The Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering’s Master of Science in Agricultural Systems Management degree is designed to develop new understanding through research and creativity. Students have the option to pursue a thesis or non-thesis Master of Science degree.  Areas of specialization within the program include subject matter related to environmental and natural resources, machine and energy systems, systems analysis along with food, feed and fiber processing.

The Master of Science thesis option degree requires students to complete advanced coursework and to become skilled in research methodology. Students are expected to plan, conduct and analyze a comprehensive research project, and to report the findings in a thesis, a scholarly document of research conducted in accordance with accepted scientific methodology.

The Master of Science in Agricultural Systems Management has a non-thesis track.  The student’s advisory committee for the non-thesis degree will consist of at least one member of the graduate faculty to be selected from the student’s major department.

This program is also approved for delivery via asynchronous distance education technology.

  • Credit Hours:
    • Non-Thesis Option: 36 credit hours of classwork, no research allowed
    • Thesis Option: 32 hours: 24 hours of courses and 8 hours of research

Online Master of Science Requirements

  • The online MS is focused in food processing technology only.
  • This is a non-thesis degree, requiring a specific set of food engineering and related courses and 36 hours.
  • Maintain an average GPR of 3.0 for all courses on your degree plan before you take the final exam.
  • Complete all degree requirements within seven years.
