NEW! Parnell Faculty Fellowship Created

An endowed fund to create the Dr. Calvin B. Parnell Faculty Fellowship in the Biological and Agricultural Engineering Department has been established by the Wesson Family Foundation.  David Wesson, AGEN ’82, wanted to honor Dr. Calvin Parnell, who was an important mentor to David as an undergraduate.

Parnell Retirement Reception

The Wesson Family Foundation entered into an agreement with the Texas A&M Foundation to make gifts that establish the Parnell Faculty Fellowship as well as a Wesson Family Foundation Matching Fund.  The Matching Fund was created to encourage others who value Calvin Parnell as an important mentor to help with the full establishment of the Parnell Faculty Fellowship.  The intent of the Dr. Calvin B. Parnell Faculty Fellowship is to recognize excellence in performance as a Biological and Agricultural Engineering faculty member, with particular emphasis on mentoring departmental students, as was done so effectively by Dr. Calvin B. Parnell during his years on the Texas A&M faculty.

Dr. Parnell is Regents Professor Emeritus and served 42 years as a faculty member in Biological and Agricultural Engineering, receiving many awards and recognitions.   Dr. Parnell retired in 2016, and continues to live in College Station.

Former students or others who wish to help with the full funding of the Dr. Calvin B. Parnell Faculty Fellowship may do so by making gifts of $2,000 or more to the Texas A&M Foundation.  All such gifts will be matched 1:1 by the Wesson Family Foundation Matching Fund through December 2024.

If you desire to make a matching gift, contact Steve Searcy at s-searcy@tamu.edu or 979-845-3940 for details.
